About this tour
As part of 100 Years of Round Table and the RTI World Meeting Centenary celebrations in York, we're bringing Tablers and guests from across the world together for our showcase golf day at York Golf Club in Strensall — widely regarded as York's premier golf course.
It's a full 18-hole round on a historic heathland championship layout designed by five-time Open Champion J.H. Taylor, played in the true spirit of Round Table: friendly competition, new friendships, and a great story to bring back to the evening's festivities. Prizes are up for grabs, the course is in superb condition, and every detail of the day has been arranged so all you need to think about is your next shot.

York's premier golf course
Set five miles north of the city, York Golf Club is a serene blend of parkland and heathland, with greens regularly described by visitors as "the best I've played on all year." A recent five-year course development programme reshaped and rebuilt every bunker, added new ones, lengthened holes with six new tees, and introduced thousands of heather plants to enhance the course's heathland character.
The signature hole is the daunting par-3 7th, played over water with trouble lurking on both sides and a wickedly sloping green — a natural spot to watch our nearest-the-pin competition unfold. The round finishes with a memorable closing stretch: tough, demanding dogleg par 4s at the 16th and 18th, sandwiching an attractive long par-3 17th that demands a precise tee shot to a narrow, bunker-ringed green. We'll play off the yellow tees, giving everyone a fair but genuine test at 6,182 yards, par 70.

Background
A course steeped in history
York Golf Club is York's oldest golf club, founded in 1890 on the Knavesmire — now home to York Racecourse — before relocating in 1904 to its present home at Strensall. The new course was designed by five-time Open Champion J.H. Taylor, whose layout has since hosted amateur champions, a future Ryder Cup captain, and even royalty among its early members.

Take your best shot at the signature par-3 7th over water and land it closest to the flag to take the prize.
Longest drive
Find the fairway on one of our designated driving holes — the longest drive to finish on the short grass takes the prize.
The clubhouse at Strensall
Both your pre and post-round food will be served inside York Golf Club's beautifully appointed clubhouse — a warm, characterful space with comfortable lounge seating and large windows looking straight out over the 18th green and the rolling heathland beyond.
Settle in at the fully stocked bar for a pint of Yorkshire ale from the county's own breweries, and make the most of a setting that's every bit as good as the golf: the perfect spot to relive your round, hear who's picked up the prizes, and toast the day with fellow Tablers before heading back into York.
How the day runs
- 1Meet in York city centre
Gather at the designated pick-up point in the centre of York, where our coach will be waiting to whisk you out to Strensall.
- 2Arrive & fuel up
Settle into the clubhouse lounge for pre-round food and a coffee overlooking the course, while you catch up with fellow Tablers before teeing off.
- 3Tee off
Head out in groups for 18 holes on the championship heathland course, playing off the yellow tees, with nearest-the-pin and longest-drive competitions running throughout. Refreshments — including a drink or two, true to Round Table style — are provided out on the course.
- 4Back to the clubhouse
Trade stories from the round over post-round food at a table overlooking the 18th green, before the competition prizes are presented.
- 5Return to York
Coach transport back to the centre of York, timed to get you back comfortably ahead of the evening's World Meeting festivities.

Pre-round food
Bacon sandwiches (or a vegetarian alternative) and coffee, served in the clubhouse lounge with a view over the course.

Post-round food
A light lunch, served with views over the 18th green, followed by the prize presentation.

Attire
Golf attire is required both on the course and in the clubhouse.
Clubs and shoes
Bring your own clubs and golf shoes if you have them — limited sets are available for hire.
Numbers are limited
Tee times and coach seats are limited, so places are allocated first-come, first-served. Book early to secure your spot.
Dietary requirements and requests for hire clubs will be gathered at a later date, once you've secured your place.
